Yesterday was not totally wasted. I made it into work, only to turn around and come home with a horrible headache. I thought, because the headache was to bad, that I was coming down with the dreaded flu, or a cold or some such thing. I am such a stupid head. I didn’t take any aspirin until early evening, and then when I did the headache became tolerable and I got a decent night’s sleep. Today, I am right as rain and ready to go. No harm, no foul.
So what has happened? The fright of the “swine flu” or the basic flu or even a cold got me all worked up. Why, because there is so much stuff about it on the news. And at work, we are all told to go home if we are feeling sick. Yes, I do agree with going home if you are obviously sick with influenza, and the H1N1 like the regular flu can really cause trouble. I am not making light of how horrible it can be. But frankly, I can do a head cold or regular flu sooooo much easier then the throw-up bug. ( Mamie used to call up the up-chuck bug ) I just hate getting that.

I ended up overlooking what was most likely a migraine and didn’t take steps to fix it, because I was busy thinking I was getting the flu. I never developed a fever, never had a stuffy nose or store throat. Instead I had intense head pain, problems with light, fatigue and a headache that was on one side of my head. Aspirin did the trick. That and probably that I rested and took care of myself, allowing all of the stress build up to ease away.
I have had a couple of ocular migraines in the past, without any pain, and thought that I had dodged this bullet. I guess I am gonna have to be more careful when I bad headache comes and treat it sooner, rather than wait all day for the flu to develop. There are some folks at work that get migraines and I have felt pretty lucky not to be that club.
I still won’t be in that club. A one time really bad head ache does not make me a migraine sufferer. Time to get up and Carpe Diem!
