On the way back from meetings in Montpelier, we saw this moose by the side of the road. Not to unusual this time of the year, animals are on the move to find new green shoots and a mate. This girl looks a bit scruffy around the edges, but most likely she has begun to shed her winter coat. Moose are proof that God has a sense of humor. Not quite sure if he was going towards a horse with a walrus bulbous nose thing and the body of an extended elk, or just a easy do-over, first try kind of critter. In any case, this is surely on of the homeliest animals around.
Toes is kind of funny looking too. But he was biffed by a car, so he has a reason for having a wonky smile. He is missing an upper fang. 
Most of the time he is really sweet, but he snores.
And he has trouble getting down from almost anything.
Yes he is missing his front right leg, which makes him a tripod. So I have made the house handi-cat accessible. Toes has double paws and 7 toes on each of his remaining legs, making him a super jumper. But he lands on his face when he tries to jump down or get down from anything, including the couch. I have a series of steps in place so he can get down from the table where his cat dish is. There is also a small trunk at the end of my bed for him to use when he gets down.
He came from the shelter and so he is my recycled pet and he was 50$, not 75$ because they think he is over 10 years old. Not a bad deal. He is fun to watch move around. Toes is proof that even when you are all beat up and funny looking, you can still be loved.
