Goat man

Posted by blackramfarm on October 6, 2008

Marcel Masse is the goat man of Craftsbury.

He also runs a poultry processing business, a compost business, logs, teaches french and is a dowser.

Most of all Marcel is a hoot.  He is the latest subject in my personal profile writing for Livin’ the Vermont Way, http://www.livinmagazine.com/ .  The magazine comes out every two months, so this story will be in the November/December edition.   In August I wrote about Sam who is my grain dealer. You can read it by going to the link.

It is really nerve wracking to ask someone you kind of know if you can write about them for a magazine, then not let them read the story prior to it being published.   Then you hope that they like what you wrote, especially if the person you write about is a good person.  The task is to write about them so that the essence of who they are come through, with all of their quirkiness, without going to far and insulting them or making fun of them.

I got the article in on time and some pictures, but am thinking that I should go back out his week when he is processing chickens.   That might give me some good material.

Going out to the farms has helped me deal with the emptiness here.  It really is not as bad as I thought it was going to be.  Especially when I get to stay inside on cold rainy mornings without having to do chores.  Not worrying about hay and grain is nice too.
