The damage was already done.

I think I will name my next ram David Ortiz. Number 34. Big Poppy. I am at number 28, but I think that I might skip a few numbers. Wu should throw a colored ram. Her first lamb is Polly who is black and her next were twin moorit ewes. We are due for a ram from her and she will not throw a white. Ain’t in the genes.
I thought it was great that a fan buried a Red Sox shirt (number 34 by the way) in the new Yankee stadium. Damage from that deal was already done. It doesn’t matter if they chipped it out of the concrete. The fact that a fan had the moxie to do it in the first place… well enough said.
I love the Red Sox. I went to games as a kid with my grandfather who was ancient. Born in 1898, he had seen the Sox win a world series. I thought that was amazing. I oiled my Rawlings glove, wrapped a ball in it and stuffed it between my matress and box spring. I played ball at the bus stop before school, during recess, after school and on weekends. I would have played on a team if allowed. As it was, I played softball on a team, but didn’t like it as much as the pickup games in the neighborhood. Softball gals used the metal bats and I like wood.
The thing about the Red Sox is the agony one feels when they screw up. Which is often. Tonight they are playing the team I love to hate. I get so dang mad at the blunders they manage to do. I yell at the TV as if I am there behind the dug out with my grandfather. I yell more at my team then those other guys. We were tied 7 to 7. Then up by two. Then poor positioning in the outfield (Manny) and a run in. Then another, and two more make 4 runs and the Yankees are up by two.
I have to be careful not to jinx the the team by thinking they will win. It is like jinxing your flock during lambing and having only rams. If you think or even say that a sheep will lamb this night or that week, you can bet you will be wrong. If you call ewe, then most likely a ram will pop up.
Naming sheep is not always easy. A ram should have a strong good name. A name that will carry the flock. Caesar, Moses, Joseph, Attila. These have been some great rams. Big Poppy. I think that will be a good name too.
